February 8 Visits to be Rescheduled

If you had an Admissions visit scheduled for Monday Feb 8th, the Admissions Office will contact you on Monday to reschedule. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this snowstorm has caused! We hope to get all visits rescheduled as soon as we can. Please call 215 530 3844 if you have any questions.
Applying to GFS >>

The GFS application process consists of the following (7) steps.

1. Application deadline: December 4, 2009.
Applications submitted beyond this date will be considered if space allows. Please call to inquire

2. Parent interview and tour of the campus:
After you have submitted your application please call the Admissions Office to arrange your visit. We ask both parents to come together when possible. Kindergarten sibling applicant parents are invited to interview over the summer.

3. Student visit to GFS: Please call the office to arrange a visit after you have received your application acknowledgement letter.

Kindergarten: 11/2 hour playday on a Saturday morning. December or January.
Lower School (grades 1-5): Full day classroom visit includes testing. October through Janurary.
Middle and Upper School (grades 6-12): Full day visit includes interview. October through January.

4. Confidential teacher recommendation(s)
Please give the recommendation forms included in the application packet to your child’s current academic teacher(s) to be completed in early December. Lower school applicants must submit (1) teacher recommendation. Middle and Upper School applicants should submit (2) teacher recommendations.

5. Admission testing
Kindergarten Readiness Assessment: After receiving your application, we will contact
you to arrange your child’s brief one-on-one assessment in our office.
Your child must be five years old by September 1st.
Lower School screening is administered during child’s visit day by our reading specialist.
Middle and Upper School SSAT or ISEE test: arranged by family.

6. Submit transcript and school records. (grades 1 -12)

7. Writing sample (Middle and Upper School applicants only.) Applicant should submit a copy of a recent graded paper before January 8.
