In keeping with our commitment to diversity and the Quaker testimony of equality, GFS seeks families from a wide range of economic backgrounds. There is no distinction made in the admissions process between applicants who apply for financial aid and those who do not. Financial aid awards are made annually by a Financial Aid Committee and are based on demonstrated financial need. Demonstrated need is the difference between a family's resources and tuition expenses. Because demand for financial aid exceeds our allocated budget and in order to give financial aid to more families, we cannot meet all demonstrated need. Families must reapply each year.
Approximately 25% of the student body receives financial assistance in the form of a grant and/or a loan. As funds are limited, first consideration is given to current students.
Financial aid applications (accompanied by all necessary current IRS 1040 Form and Schedules and W2's) are due on February 5, 2010. These deadlines are firm. Financial Aid awards are granted within three weeks of this deadline. Current families must have completed payment of the previous year's tuition. When parents are divorced, the assets of all parents and step-parents will be considered. Books, lunch, field trip costs, our private instrumental program and athletic equipment are not included in yearly tuition.
