Alumni Volunteer / Involvement Opportunities
Germantown Friends School thrives on the involvement of volunteers, from caring parents to dedicated community members. Alumni play an especially important role in this process because of their special connection to the school. There are a variety of ways for alumni to become involved with the life of the school.
Alumni Connections serves as a communications link and information source for alumni and students. By tapping the invaluable experience, knowledge and skills of GFS alumni, Alumni Connections provides a broad spectrum of support and assistance to all of its members and to the overall school community.

Junior Projects
During January, most juniors undertake a four week independent project which often leads them into the workplace, to experience a possible career, to follow a special interest, to become engaged in community outreach and the non-profit world, among others. These projects are most beneficial if there is an on-site supervisor who understands the school and program, and who is really interested in mentoring a student through such a project. We are always looking for people who are interested in mentoring students, or finding mentors within their business or profession. In addition, students often find wonderful projects in other cities, but don't have housing. If you would be willing to house a student, often in exchange for evening babysitting, or if you would like to serve as a junior project mentor, please sign up on the Volunteer Form on the left of this page.
Alumni Speakers Board
Add you name to our list of possible future alumni speakers. Special assembly or classroom lecturers on a variety of topics regularly enhance our GFS curriculum. To volunteer to speak at GFS, please complete the Volunteer Form on the left of this page and include a brief description of yourself and your topics of expertise.
Tour Guides
Help promote Germantown Friends School by conducting school tours for the Admissions Office. Open Houses are held three times a year and many volunteer tour guides are needed to take prospective families around campus. Alumni Tour Guides are paired up with current students and parents to make an especially powerful combination.
