The Jury Process

The GFS Craft Show, like many high-caliber events of its kind, uses what is referred to as a “blind jury” process to select exhibitors. Each applicant submits four images: three of work and the fourth of the display booth. The jurors, a distinguished panel of local professional artists, art educators, and collectors, view the images, assigning each artist a score from 1 to 5 (no neutral 3’s!). The jury is considered “blind” because the identities of the applicants are unknown to them.

Once the viewing of images and scoring is completed, the Craft Artist Committee begins the task of tallying the numbers and building the lists of invites. Artists are invited "by the numbers,” the only consideration given by the committee is to providing a balanced mix of media.
