The girls varsity basketball team literally ran their record to 10-2 on the season with a win at George School. George School started the game with full court pressure and maintained throughout the game. The Tigers used a press of their own and rolled to a 20-9 first quarter advantage. The pace continued to be fast and the half ended with GFS leading 35-16. Kat Bixby, Nina Voith, and Maddy Kaufman combined for 30 points in the first half. GFS maintained their lead throughout the second half and won with a score of 55-38. This was again a strong defensive effort. This is the 8th time this year the team has held their opponent to under 40 points. This is also the 8th time this year the Tigers scored over 50 points.
Last Saturday the Tigers outscored Friends' Central 34-11 in the first three quarters and went on to win 44-25. The team is 2-0 in league play and will face a tough Friends Select team Friday night.
Standout Katherine Bixby continues her scoring tear as she finished with 18 points vs. FCS and 22 points vs. George School. Katherine has scored 952 points in her career and is only 48 points from 1000 points.
