4/8/5 - Varsity Baseball 9, CHA 1

The Tigers earned a very satisfying victory over visiting CHA 9-1. The Blue Devils were forced into musical pitchers early in the game though a combination their inability to find the plate and the skills of the Tigers hitters.

CHA, just off their successful trip to Florida, were looking to notch their third win of the week when they ran into a Tigers team with thoughts of their own. While CHA was going through five pitchers, the Tigers found what they needed the first time with Custer Cook having a great day on the mound holding the good hitting Devils to only one run and four hits over five innings. Mike Barsotti came in and finished the game in fine fashion.

The win was a result of the Tigers putting together every part of their game. Custer brought the pitching, the entire team played great defense making no errors the entire game. The hitting was highlighted by Mark Schwartz going three for three, with two runs batted in. Marek Loder added a single, a walk, and three runs batted in.

As the Philadelphia Inquirer put it, "host Germantown Friends routed Chestnut Hill Academy, 9-1." Well done team.

The team returns to the site of last year's championship win when it travels to New Jersey on Tuesday to face Moorestown Friends. On Friday the Tigers will be back on Gratwick Field against Friends Central fighting for an all important Felsen Cup point.
