After a slow start to the season, GFS field hockey demonstrated its vast improvement with a 2-0 win over Baldwin. Crisper passing, better connections on the field and stronger team play contributed to yesterday's successful match. Junior Sarah Feldman narrowly missed a hat trick when one of her shots barely squeaked by the cage. Her first goal came off a break away midway through the first half. Early in the second half, Sarah finished a nice cross pass from Kate McCoubrey. Sisters Abby and Becky Childs have developed a great passing strategy together in the midfield that has created many scoring opportunities for the team. Carolyn Tilney's strong play in the midfield as well helped GFS to maintain possession of the ball.
The JV team is still trying to find their scoring touch. The addition of several new players should help to turn things around.
Come out and support GFS on Thursday at 3:45pm at home against Agnes Irwin.
