GFS opened its 2004 season in fine form, narrowly losing to GA 27 –30 on the Germantown Academy home course. Maddy Davis-Hayes was nipped at the line, finishing in 4th place, with a near personal best time of 22:05 to lead the tigers. Junior Emily Martin placed 5th in 23:10. Sophomore Danielle Feldman led a pack of GFS runners with a 6th place finish, followed closely by Lucy Warrington (7th), frosh Shannon Palus (8th) and Rachel Hodas (9th). Senior co-captain Rena Kreimer was 11th in 27:38, impressively lowering her personal best by almost 2 minutes! Also of special note was Ms Hodas’ effort, as it marked the soccer player turned runner’s first cross country or track race ever! Depth has been a hallmark of the GFS League champion teams of 2002 and 2003, and with this early effort it appears that GFS may be on its way to another title.
