Friday the Tigers earned their second win in as many days with a convincing 13 – 1 victory over Westtown. Westtowns’ first batter of the game hit a triple and scored their only run of the day. Andy Soprano showed his toughness pitching a complete game and holding Westtown to only four base runners and no runs after that.
The Tigers’ bats were busy all day, answering Westtowns’ score in the bottom of the first inning with three runs on singles by Nick Malinowski and Nate Geller; and an RBI triple by Aaron Sommer, who was then driven in by Sam Biddle. Ross Rutledge’s double helped the Tigers continue the onslaught throughout the game. The team scored in each inning and finally erupted for 8 runs in the fourth. Nick Malinowski continued his red hot streak with his third multi-hit game since returning from Florida.
The Tigers defense also shined on Friday. The Tigers played the game with out an error. Of note was Marc Schwartz at shortstop and first basemen Jessie Weinstein-Gould, who both made some spectacular plays.
The win puts the Tigers at 2-0 in the FSL and 3-1 overall. The coming week brings Friends’ Central to Gratwick Field on Tuesday, an undefeated Moorestown Friends squad to Gratwick Field on Thursday, and a Saturday Varsity/JV double header at Gratwick Field against GAMP starting at 10:30am. We hope to see you at the ballpark!
