The Softball team played an exciting game yesterday against Friends Central. GFS dominated the whole time and had, at one point, an eleven run lead. While the first half was played solidly by Germantown Friends, the second half boasted numerous errors on the part of both teams. The Tigers managed however, to hold FCS down in the last inning. Excellent pitching by sophomore Maria Peterson kept the runner on third from coming home and tying up the score in the 8th inning. Aggressive batting contributed to the unusually high score. The team’s three senior captains took charge. Marisa Williamson went 3 for 4 with four RBIs, Audrey Henninger came home twice, and Emilia McKee batted 2 for four with four RBIs. The seniors kept the bats swinging, their ferociousness inspiring their younger teammates to execute some very impressive hits. Junior Molly Weisberg came off the bench batting 2 for 2 with a single and a double.
The team is charged up after what is the first softball victory against longtime rival Friends Central. They hope to polish their game in time for Tuesday’s face-off at George School. They will play at ANC on Friday the 23rd.
