| In the lower school, students are grouped either in traditional single-grade classrooms or in vertical classrooms where two grades of students are taught in the same classroom over the course of two years. While students in vertical classes are separated for grade level instruction, many activities allow for both age groups to work together and become friends. The vertical classrooms allow for two years of continuity with a single teacher as well as giving children a rich cohort of peers in more than one grade.
