| 17-6 win for lacrosse April 29, 2008 |
| The Varsity Lacrosse team handily won 17-6 on Tuesday in a league game against a much improved Academy of the New Church team. Positive play started with Maura McInerney-Rowley earning the first goal of the day (and added another goal later); additionally, Sadye Stern went 2-for-2 as she tallied 2 goals and an assist, while fellow attacker Cate Barrett opened the flood gate with her goal at 9:00 minutes remaining in the first half that catapulted the Tigers to score 6 unanswered goals. Camilla Warren was also successful in gobbling up 6 ground balls and backing up the cage for valuable rebounds that kept GFS on attack. Betsy Sachs dominated the center draw coming up with 7 draw controls, 7 ground balls and 4 goals, GFS used a series of small passes that exhausted ANC, allowing us to control the momentum of the game. While working the midfield, Lydia Kring had 3 goals courtesy of 3 penalty shots and dished out 3 assists. Mariah Barstow had sound composure under pressure in the midfield while also contributing 4 goals.
On defense, Rebecca Williams had 13 saves in goal and the low defenders combined for 14 ground balls. Anna Bak collected a career high 4 ground balls and Katie Low moved up to our attack and scored off of a perfectly executed full-field connection finished off with a fake to bait the goalie to go the wrong way. The defense stayed tight and did not allow ANC to score in the final 11 minutes of the game. The Tigers take on Agnes Irwin at HOME at Fields on Wednesday at 3:45.
