| Girls Soccer beats Springside 3-1 September 12, 2008 |
| 2 goals by senior tri-captain Lydia Kring helped power the girls' varsity soccer team to an impressive 3-1 victory over visiting rival Springside. Senior center back Jasmine West also notched a goal for the Tigers, the first of her varsity career. Despite the rainy conditions, GFS was able to keep possession for large stretches of the contest, and their crisp passing enabled them to control the tempo of the game and keep the potent Springside offense at bay. It was a true team effort on both sides of the ball, but emergency back-up keeper Victoria Horn deserves special mention, as she was called on to mind the nets for an injured Molly Tow and did a stellar job. The TIgers improved to 1-1 for the season.
