| La Nouvelle France! The French V class visited Québec this spring for a week. The first part was spent in Québec City where students lived with local families. During the day, we visited historic sites to better understand the Québecois experience. We also had the opportunity to visit the Ice Hotel and the cathedral of Ste-Anne-de-Beaupres. In the evening the students ate and conversed with their host families; each student had to report back on cultural topics prepared before the trip. The last half of the trip was spent in Montreal, where we were housed by students at the Cégep de Vieux Montreal (12 and 13 grades). We learned about the life of a student, attended classes and explored the city. Students learned what a "beaver tail" was in addition to navigaging the metro system to various spots on a treasure hunt. Poutine was tried and enjoyed by all! Overall we got a better sense of what being a North American French speaker means, insight into a teenager's life and the opportunity to improve our language skills.
