The Girls Track & Field team began league competition on Tuesday, hosting long time rivals Friends Central.  The Tigers ran through the wind and rain and secured a Felsen Cup point by defeating the Phoenix 61-39.

The Girls Lacrosse team ignored the dreary, rainy and windy weather on Tuesday at the Shipley turf on their way to a victory in their first league match-up against Shipley.

Aiming for an unprecedented 6th straight FSL championship, the Tigers have started league play with wins over Friends Select, 11-5, Academy of the New Church, 7-2, and George School, 4-1. The team will next travel to take on Westtown on Tuesday, April 21st, before hosting local rival Chestnut Hill Academy on Wednesday the 22nd. Both games are scheduled for 4:00pm starts.
 



The GFS Softball team headed to Westtown to battle a league opponent and attempt to earn their first league win of the season.

On a day that saw the temperature reach 90 degrees for the first time this year, the Tigers were even hotter, bringing home three (3) FSL JV Titles and a hard fought 3rd place finish!

The Varsity Lacrosse team has been busy.  In the past two weeks the team has beaten Moorestown Friends 12-4, George School 15-6, Hill School 17-16, Friends' Central 14-13 and Springside 13-6.  The squad is 9-3 overall and 5-0 in the league!

Varsity Baseball

On an afternoon where the rain would not let up, the GFS Tigers didn't either, using a 14 hit attack to defeat Friends Select by a score of 17-0. With the win, the Tigers improve to 6-4 overall and 6-2 in the Friends League.

Boys Varsity Baseball, following their victory in the FSL Championship over MFS, will participate in the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Baseball Tournament tomorrow, Tuesday, 5/19/09.

The #10 seeded Tigers will hit the road and face the #7 seed Haverford School.

Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. @ Haverford on their turf field.



Playing through the rain on Friends Select's rooftop tennis courts, GFS Varsity Tennis took home a well deserved victory!

Kring had a combined 12 goals in the 2009 Friends Schools League semifinals (vs. Westtown) and finals (vs. Shipley) and was recognized as FSL All League for the 3rd year in a row, while leading the team to back-to-back championships.

On Saturday afternoon, the #1 seed GFS Tigers defeated the #2 seed Moorestown Friends by a score of 5-3 to capture the 2009 Friends Schools League Championship. The victory also marks the 6th consecutive title earned by the GFS baseball program.
