GFS Girls Soccer Shuts Out Westtown

October 13, 2009
GFS 6, Westtown 0

After being stymied in the first half, the GFS girls soccer team solved Westtown's off-side trap and scored six unanswered goals en route to a 6-0 victory over their Westchester rival. The win improved the Tigers' league record to 5-1 and guaranteed them a Friends School League playoff spot with two games to go.

Sophomore Iris Williamson led the way with two goals and an assist. Junior Lyles Swift-Farley had a goal and an assist as did sophomore Sami Clarke and senior Danielle Thompson. Freshman Katherine Walden capped off the scoring with her first tally of the season. In net, Molly Tow earned her fourth shut-out of the season and improved her league record over the past two years to 13-1. The Tigers take on the Churchwomen from Episcopal next in what promises to be a hard-fought non-league encounter.
