On Friday, April 14, the Environmental Action Club hosted Earth Day festivities on the Commons during lunch. In addition to raising funds and consciousness, the unlikely stars of the event were the grass-fed beef burgers, shaped into adorable slider sizes. Why? Alumna Connie Young '80 generously donated nearly 40 pounds of grass-fed ground beef from her organic farm in Upstate New York for the celebrations.
Connie makes sustainable practices in farming a priority every day. Her day job as a financial planner in Oakland, California hasn't kept her from pursuing her passion of sustainable farming. She also owns and operates her family's farm in Van Hornesville, NY, leasing it to local farmers and welcoming every opportunity to offer nourishment and share her thinking on ways to steward the environment.
Many thanks to Connie and to the GFS Environmental Action Club for this great event!
