Chamber Music

Chamber music is the essence of intimacy and responsibility in music making.  Through the process of preparing individual parts that function as solos, to combining parts that create harmony and communication, there is great satisfaction in the creation of a chamber music piece.

Our chamber music program begins in Lower School, with a combination of advanced players to form duets, trios or quartets.  From recorder ensembles to traditional string quartets, interested students often take part in these groups. The Belly Button Quartet of 2011 brought critical acclaim from young and old alike, and brought the Upper School to its feet in applause.

In Middle School, chamber ensembles regularly form from the Orchestra program.  Combinations of instruments, including piano, are often showcased at night concerts and daytime assemblies, and can be heard at many special events such as the Craft Show, Open Houses, and Meetinghouse celebrations.

The Upper School has formalized chamber ensembles as part of the curriculum, where students can elect to participate in ensembles as part of their music requirement.  Ensembles meet once a week and perform regularly for night concerts, daytime assemblies and many special events on campus.
