Though our application deadline of December 7, 2012 has passed, we will continue accepting applications. Late applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as they become complete, based on availability of space in each grade. It is beneficial to you and helpful to us to submit the application as soon as possible.
To apply online, click the "Apply Online" button on the right hand side of this page. You will be asked to set up a username and password, which will allow you to complete, edit, and review your application before electronically submitting it to us. You will also be able to log in later to view application requirements and check to see if we have received all parts of your child's application. You can request that we send you a paper application in the mail by clicking "Request Application Packet" on the right hand side of this page.
After you have submitted your application, please call the Admissions Office to arrange your interview. The parent interview is a chance for you to find out more about GFS and for us to find out about your child. The interview includes a tour of our campus. We ask both parents to come together when possible.
Please call the office to arrange a visit after you have received your application acknowledgement letter. Applicants are hosted by a GFS student for a full day. Applicants to 9th grade visit for a full day in the 9th grade. Applicants to grades 10 and 11 visit for a full day in their current grade. They attend classes and are encouraged to participate in activities. Visitors should wear comfortable clothes and sneakers. We will provide a lunch ticket for use in our cafeteria. The day is concluded with a brief and informal interview with one of our admissions directors.
Students who are admitted to GFS are invited to revisit for a half day in February. Applicants to 9th grade can re-visit in the 8th grade to meet their prospective classmates. Applicants to the 10th and 11th grades can revisit to the grade they are applying for, so they can get a sense of what the next year would be like.
Please give the recommendation forms included in the application packet to your child’s current academic teacher(s) to be completed in early December. Upper School applicants should submit (2) teacher recommendations. The Teacher Recommendation form is also available at the right in the "Download Supplemental Forms" box.
Upper School SSAT (
Secondary School Admissions Test) or ISEE (
Independent School Entrance Exam) is required and arranged online by each family. A brochure with details is included in our information packet. The GFS School code for the SSAT is #3397.
