Alumni Journalists Report to Campus
Posted April 5, 2013
Four GFS alumni journalists returned to campus for the Third Annual High School Journalism Conference. They ran workshops for budding student writers from high schools all over the Philadelphia area and beyond. Freelance writer Zach Baron ’00 talked to the students about how to use social media to develop a voice and a reputation as a writer. PJ Vogt ’04 spoke about his work at NPR and gave advice on the art of constructing and editing a story. Author and Salon.com contributor Rebecca Traister ’93 worked with the students to develop stories from their personal points of view. And Allison Steele ’98 gave the students pointers she has learned in her years of reporting crime for the Philadelphia Inquirer. The event was engaging and inspiring for the young journalists and GFS is proud to see our students become the teachers!
