explore our CAMPUS

What's cool about our campus is that it's spread out over seven acres in Philadelphia's historic neighborhood of Germantown. The buildings are an eclectic mix of old and new, a unique look and feel more consistent with a college campus. With three gyms, three auditoriums, a student center, numerous open, green spaces and nine classroom buildings, it's a place worthy of adoration and exploration. The Meetinghouse, at the center of it all, provides a beautiful and spiritual focal point.

The Pillars of A

Quaker Education

At GFS, students and teachers gather in Meeting for Worship once each week. This is a time for shared, silent contemplation. Anyone who feels moved to speak may rise and do so. It is a simple formula, and can be a remarkably powerful experience. In these days of constant connectivity, the ability and opportunity to sit in silence have special value. Meeting for Worship is a cornerstone of the GFS culture that many come to cherish throughout their lives.

Explorer Camp (Grades 1-5)

Explorer Camp is the vibrant, varied and fun-filled cornerstone of Summertime at GFS. Explorer Camp encourages campers’ curiosity and creativity as they dig deep into areas of personal interest, stretch their capabilities, and build lasting friendships in a fun, imaginative, and supportive camp environment.

Along with all the perks of a traditional summer day camp, each week Explorer campers pick two mini-courses from 30+ options. Explore the mini-courses here!

Explorer Camp is for campers who will be entering grades 1 to 5 for Fall 2017.

New this year: 25% discount for campers who enroll for 5 or 6 weeks!

See Registration Details.

On top of two daily mini-courses, each week is rooted in a group-focused routine featuring:

  • Daily drop-in activities ranging from parkour to puzzles, epic dance moves to conversational French.
  • Weekly field trips to destinations around Philadelphia.
  • Twice-weekly swims at the Germantown Cricket Club
  • Friday’s Explorer Showcase and Ice Cream Fun-dae- Parents and loved ones invited!

Because enrollment is limited, mini-courses will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis; therefore, campers who sign up early will have first pick!

In case a selected mini-course already has filled, campers will be asked to select a third, "just-in-case" mini-course preference during registration. (Note: This does not apply when a camper has selected an Intensive.)

While every effort will be made to place campers in their mini-courses of choice, Explorer Camp reserves the right to assign campers to mini-courses at its discretion.
