The fall choir concert is a musical highlight each year. This year’s program features portions of John Rutter’s Requiem, as well as Randall Stroope’s Lamentations of Jeremiah, Telemann’s Laudate Jehovam, a setting of O Magnum Mysterium by contemporary Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo, settings of Emily Dickinson poems by Dutch composer Raymond Schroyens, and contemporary Gospel selections.
The Germantown Friends School Choir is an ensemble of 50 students in grades 10-12 selected by audition. Directed by Stephen Kushner, the choir performs frequently throughout the year, often collaborating with many of Philadelphia’s leading professional musicians. Recently, the group performed with the Singing City Choir and with members of the Philadelphia Pops Orchestra, and sung the Philadelphia premiere of “somewhere I have never travelled, gladly beyond” by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Jennifer Higdon.
We hope you will join us for the concert on November 17. For more information, please call 215-951-2300.
