“We, the students and faculty of the Lower School at GFS, have created this Spirit Document that will serve as a guideline to help us create a more responsible, respectful and joyful community. It is our hope that we will all try our best to observe these guidelines everywhere we go—not only inside our classrooms, but in other spaces such as the school bus, on the playground and while on class trips. We will all ‘Do Our P.A.R.T’ to uphold this document.”
Through faculty meetings, class discussions and queries for Meeting for Worship, the Lower School community created this document in the fall of 2010. To make it easy for everyone to remember, students and teachers came up with the catchy motto, “Do Our P.A.R.T.”:
P – Practice Safety. Do not hurt, embarrass or bully anyone; walk/skip on campus.
A – Act Responsibly. Treat all GFS property with care and respect; create a safe learning space by following directions, respecting differences and helping each other.
R – Be Respectful. Assume the best in people; treat others in ways that make them happy.
T – Try Your Best. Each day is a new opportunity to try and follow these guidelines.
