When the group began over 15 years ago, parents hoped to make the school community a more welcoming environment for children from gay and lesbian families. Ongoing meetings with faculty and staff are held to explore language choice and teachable moments in discussing gay and lesbian issues. The dialogue continues...
The Lesbian and Gay Parents and Friends Alliance (LGPFA) is for same sex parents and their allies who may be interested in exploring diversity at GFS, in socializing with other like-minded parents, in gaining support and camaraderie if their family has a gay or lesbian relative or if their child is exploring issues of their own sexuality, and/or if they are generally interested in how our GFS community deals with issues that surround homophobia and heterosexism. We sponsor social events and discussions that may be of interest to our families and allies.
