Capital Programs

While the Annual Giving program provides funding for the daily operating expenses at GFS, Capital programs focus on meeting the long-term strategic goals of the school. These goals, articulated in the Strategic Plan, generally include strengthening the endowment to support the strongest talent in the classroom and campus improvements to meet evolving program needs.

Upcoming Capital Initiatives

The Head of School, the School Committee, and the Strategic Planning Committee finalized a ten-year strategic plan in 2004. During this ambitious process, members of the GFS community shared insights about the school’s most enduring strengths and pressing needs and defined a vision for the future. Central to that vision is a firm commitment to enhance excellence in all areas - academics, athletics, and the arts - to advance GFS’s standing as a nationally recognized independent school.

Our top capital priorities are:

  • Recruiting and supporting a gifted faculty (Faculty Endowment)
  • Attracting and retaining a talented student body (Financial Aid Endowment)
  • Constructing a new Upper School science building
  • Enhancing the school’s current campus to meet emerging program needs

This is an exciting time at GFS. As we look forward and plan for the future, we remember to always build on our three essential strengths: Quaker ideals continue to guide all that we do; the individuals in the classroom are truly what matter - both faculty and students; and we will provide the facilities needed to support continued program excellence.
