Our students did exceptionally well at the MathCounts competition this past Saturday at Temple's College of Engineering. Our school had four representatives among the top 20 scorers with Jaden Wang ’29 earning 16th place and Avni Gupta ’29 placing 12th. Esme Baxter ’27 and Jonathan Yang ’27 were in the top ten.
Jonathan Yang, earned the highest score of any student at the event on the written section, going into the Count Down round in first place. In a nail-biting showdown, he was narrowly edged out to win the second-place individual trophy for the second year in a row. It was Jonathan's leadership and expertise as captain, in earning us a stunning 18/20 on the team round. For the first time in eight years, GFS beat Masterman to take the coveted Philadelphia Chapter Trophy. With these accolades comes an invitation to the State Competition on Saturday, March 19 in Harrisburg, PA. Congratulations to the entire team!
