Medals and Milestones Highlight Tigers’ Midweek Meet
Last Wednesday night (1/7/26) at the Penn Ott Center, Germantown Friends School track and field athletes competed at the La Salle Winter Series, one of the region’s top winter indoor meets. The Tigers turned in a strong overall showing, led by seniors X Ray ’26, Gabriel Baah ’26, and Paris DeBose ’26 (pictured below), who each delivered notable performances against a deep and competitive field.

DeBose set the tone in the high jump with an efficient and consistent performance. DeBose cleared 6 feet to earn a fifth-place finish and a medal, reaching that height without a single miss. His ability to stay clean through each progression allowed him to remain in contention as the bar rose, and his clearance stood out among a crowded field of jumpers.

In the triple jump, Baah and Ray both advanced to the finals, highlighting the Tigers’ strength in the event. Baah put together a solid series and finished fourth overall with a jump of 43 feet, 5¾ inches. His mark secured a medal and placed him just outside the top three, continuing a season of consistent results in the horizontal jumps.

Ray closed the night with one of the meet’s most exciting improvements. He finished eighth overall with a jump of 42 feet, 8¾ inches, setting a new personal record by nearly four feet. The performance marked a significant step forward and reflected the progress he has made throughout the indoor season. Advancing to the finals and producing his best jump on a big stage made for a standout moment in the meet.

The combined efforts of DeBose, Baah, and Ray showcased the impact of the Tigers’ senior class and set a positive tone as the season moves forward.
