What's cool about our campus is that it's spread out over seven acres in Philadelphia's historic neighborhood of Germantown. The buildings are an eclectic mix of old and new, a unique look and feel more consistent with a college campus. With three gyms, three auditoriums, a student center, numerous open, green spaces and nine classroom buildings, it's a place worthy of adoration and exploration. The Meetinghouse, at the center of it all, provides a beautiful and spiritual focal point.

Recapping a Banner Year in GFS Athletics!

2021-2022 was a banner year for GFS Athletics! Seven teams captured Friends Schools League Championships, the Tigers regained the Felsen Cup, teams and athletes advanced to national events and smashed school records, and students made college commitments. More so, memories were made by all of the student-athletes who left it all on the fields, courts, track, and mats each and every day! Well done, Tigers!

Varsity Lacrosse:

Tigers Win the FSL Championship (the 2nd consecutive and 4th time in 5 years). The Lacrosse program has amassed a 34-2 league record in 5 years, including this year's undefeated league record. 

Laxers earn a PAISAA State Tournament bid in the top division.

Nine Athletes Medal at the PAISAA State Meet; Graham Greene ‘23 captured Gold in the 300M Hurdles. Freshmen Ben Idinipulos and Alayah Campbell medaled in field events in their rookie seasons. 

Eleven (7 boys, 4 girls) athletes advance to New Balance Track & Field Nationals 

US Crew: 

Aidan Cusack ‘23 and Otis Solomon '22 became the first in GFS Athletics program history to capture Gold at Stotesbury

Fourteen athletes advanced to the USRowing Youth National Championships on June 9-12 at Nathan Benderson Park, Sarasota, FL.

Athletics Leadership and Coaches Benefit from DEI Training and Professional Development

GFS Regains the Felsen Cup! Tigers Beat Friends’ Central Handily in 2021-2022: 11.5 to 3.5!

It was a Record-Breaking Participation from Class of 2022! 82 played at least 1 season; 32 played 2 seasons; 25 played 3 sports/seasons. 76% of the entire senior class played a sport; 50% of the class competed in 2/+ seasons. 

Seven Athletes made NCAA Athletics College Commitments (5 in November, 2 in May); Nine more have goals to continue their athletic careers in college but whose participation is pending.

Middle School athletes benefit from several postseason programs focusing on methods for gaining the mental edge (facilitated by Colleen Finnegan) and team building skills (facilitated by the Positive Coaching Alliance).
