What's cool about our campus is that it's spread out over seven acres in Philadelphia's historic neighborhood of Germantown. The buildings are an eclectic mix of old and new, a unique look and feel more consistent with a college campus. With three gyms, three auditoriums, a student center, numerous open, green spaces and nine classroom buildings, it's a place worthy of adoration and exploration. The Meetinghouse, at the center of it all, provides a beautiful and spiritual focal point.

At GFS, students and teachers gather in Meeting for Worship once each week. This is a time for shared, silent contemplation. Anyone who feels moved to speak may rise and do so. It is a simple formula, and can be a remarkably powerful experience.In these days of constant connectivity, the ability and opportunity to sit in silence have special value. Meeting for Worship is a cornerstone of the GFS culture that many come to cherish throughout their lives.

Crew Team Celebrates Nine Seniors

The Crew team celebrated its nine seniors at a team dinner with teammates, coaches, and families. Seniors Zachary Branas, Turner Burns, Sara Cherubini, Drew Cohen, Otis Harrison, Gabe Katowitz, Norah Lee, Daniel McIlhenny, and Aden Solomon were honored with speeches and posters, a time-honored tradition. 

Tiger Crew wrapped up an outstanding season with six boats qualifying for the PSRA City Championship. Harrison and Aidan Cusack ‘23 (Lightweight 2X), earned the school's first-ever gold medal at the storied Stotesbury Regatta, the largest high school regatta in the country. Cara Appleberry ‘24 and Norah Lee '22 (Lightweight 2X) captured silver.

Ten athletes have also advanced to the Youth National Championships on June 9-12 at Nathan Benderson Park, Sarasota, FL. Competitors include: Norah Lee ’22 and Cara Appleberry ’24 (Youth 2x); Leah Cornejo ‘24, Lucy Yannella ‘24, Natalie Lau ‘24, and Becca Rasmussen ‘24 (Youth 4x); and Charlotte Berman ‘25, Lyla Conley ‘25, Emilia Cropf ‘25, and Lila Donovan ‘25 (U17 4x).
