Varsity Track & Field athletes raced at the New Balance Track & Field Outdoor Nationals earlier this month, held at Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. The meet, which athletes must qualify for, included elite runners from coast to coast. It was the first time the national event was held in Philadelphia.
In the Girls division, Anna Macdonald '22 took 8th among a field of 23 elite runners in the Girls 1 Mile Rising Stars division, with a time of 5:05.15.
The Girls Distance Medley Relay team of Alayah Campbell ’25, Katya Henisz ’23, Audrey Ling ’24, and Macdonald finished 6th in the Rising Stars Division with a time of 13:03.99
Simon Donovan '23 placed 31st among a field of 75 top runners in the Boys 1 Mile Rising Stars division, with a time of 4:23.22.
The Boys 1600 Sprint Relay team of Oliver Briger ’23, Graham Greene ’23, Sam Butler ’22 (above), and Shuford Kirk ‘23 took 9th in the Rising Stars division with a time of 8:09.40.
In the Boys 4x800 Meter Relay Rising Stars division, Kirk, Sam Rekulak '22 (below), Donovan, and Mason Kressloff '25 placed 14th with a time of 8:09.40.
The eleven athletes who competed on the national stage were pivotal in the 2022 Boys and Girls Track & Field teams' Friends Schools League Championship titles. New Balance Nationals marked the end of the season for the runners and was also the GFS finale for Butler, Macdonald, and Rekulak.
