Last week, we were thrilled to dedicate the R. Chase McDaniel II '50 Weight Room. In celebration of wellness and well-being at GFS, Chase McDaniel supported upgrades and new equipment for this important facility.
McDaniel was a wrestler at GFS and understands the value our athletic program brings to the success of our students, both at school and in their growth as responsible, engaged, and thoughtful citizens. Whether it's playing on a soccer team or working out with a friend in our beautifully updated weight room, physical activity enables important bonds and shared experiences—and lasting friendships and memories.
In addition to McDaniel and his family, this facility would not be possible without the support of Bill Bixby and Sandy Baur Bixby '72. You will see plaques around the weight room, recognizing other friends who made the renewal of this space possible, including:
- The Levy Family (Bill, Rhonda, Britt '02, and Tom '05), in honor of their uncle Daniel Levy;
- S. Michael Cohen '82, celebrating his '82 class at GFS;
- The Williams Family, in honor of Dan Shechtman and
- A machine dedicated by the Golden family to Lindsey Golden '18, Marlie Golden '19, and female athletes everywhere.
The R. Chase McDaniel II '50 Weight Room will have a positive impact on students, teams, our athletic program, and our entire school mission today, and for decades to come.
