For this year's GFS Science Day and Science Night, which took place on Thursday, April 18, students were encouraged to apply the power of science to questions and needs right here in our community. They were challenged to use Philadelphia as their "petri dish," as Science Department Head Eva Porter explained.

"Science is happening all around us, and through science, we can change the trajectory when problems arise, for example, in the water supply or the quality of our soil," said Porter.

During the day, the older students guided younger students in how to run scientific experiments and demonstrations, and at night, families were able to join in on the discoveries.
