The results of the Biscuit Bake Off are in! Now it's time to make a favorite crunchy-chewy-salty-sweet treat.
Salted chocolate-chunk shortbread? Blueberry jam pecan Linzer Sablés? The results from the biscuit (cookie) bake-off were as inspired as they were inviting, true Kitchen Sink creations. Check out all the submissions here.
Moving on... Geo Decas O'Donnell, our Great GFS Bake Off guru, chose the next challenge because it straddles that sweet-savory line and can be accomplished without flour (a tricky ingredient to find as of late): granola bars. Rather simple to make and very adaptable to the ingredients you like and already have in your kitchen. We love these bars because they exist in that magical happy medium of crunchy-chewy-salty-sweet.
Olive Oil granola is a wonderful, wonderful thing. Here's a recipe, but really, all you need to do is coat your rolled oats, toast them, then mix them with stuff you like (toasted nuts, coconut, dried fruit, chocolate)—and adapt to your preference. Then take that granola and make these delicious granola bars! (OR you can buy some granola and then make the bars OR you can make waffles—whatever helps you maintain your sanity this week.)
Please send photos of your delicious creations to Geo at firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, April 27.
