Colin Lucius joined the GFS coaching staff in fall 2021 as the Head Middle School Tennis Coach. Lucius also serves as a tennis professional at Germantown Cricket Club. Prior to GFS and GCC, Lucius’ coaching experience included teaching at Seaside Tennis in the Florida panhandle and at the University of Texas tennis camp in Austin, TX. He has earned Professional Tennis Registry status through extensive tennis coaching training.
Lucius, a native of Shreveport, La., is a former Division I tennis player at La Salle University (‘21) where he played both single and doubles for the Explorers. Lucius graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
“Lucius came highly recommended from our strong contacts at La Salle and GCC,” said Katie Bergstrom Mark, Director of Athletics. “And we can see why. It’s great for our Middle School program to have a high level player-coach in Colin who is also fun and engaging.”
“GFS Middle School Tennis provides athletes with daily fun and competition while ensuring that those who wish to play high school tennis have the proper resources to prepare for the step up,” said Lucius.
“I coach and work at GFS because helping kids build confidence by mastering the hardest sport in the world brings substantial fulfillment to my day,” Lucius added. “The best coaches say that tennis and life mirror each other; I've found these words to be fact over my last 14 years on court. I feel that if I help a child develop the tools necessary to become a better tennis player, I'm also preparing them for future challenges and obstacles off the court.”
