explore our CAMPUS

What's cool about our campus is that it's spread out over seven acres in Philadelphia's historic neighborhood of Germantown. The buildings are an eclectic mix of old and new, a unique look and feel more consistent with a college campus. With three gyms, three auditoriums, a student center, numerous open, green spaces and nine classroom buildings, it's a place worthy of adoration and exploration. The Meetinghouse, at the center of it all, provides a beautiful and spiritual focal point.

The Pillars of A

Quaker Education

At GFS, students and teachers gather in Meeting for Worship once each week. This is a time for shared, silent contemplation. Anyone who feels moved to speak may rise and do so. It is a simple formula, and can be a remarkably powerful experience. In these days of constant connectivity, the ability and opportunity to sit in silence have special value. Meeting for Worship is a cornerstone of the GFS culture that many come to cherish throughout their lives.

Raising the Bar

Raising the Bar

The Great GFS Bake Off Week 6 is devoted to the delicious, satisfying world of brownies and bars!

Hello, Bakers!

Looking for a quick bake this weekend? Our next challenge is all about making a tray of comforting goodness. Be it a brownie, a blondie, a lemon square, a crisp bar, whatever your family prefers, these bakes are easily shared, so consider trading with other neighboring bakers in a socially distanced way (if they last long enough!).

The King Arthur Flour website and its collection of recipes has become our new go-to so we're going to direct you there, but don't count out those brownie and bar recipes on those cute recipe index cards kicking around your kitchen. (Fun fact: When our baking guru Geo Decas O'DonnellI asks his mom for a recipe, she writes it out on one of those cards and mails it to him—which he loves, but it requires him to plan well in advance!)

Here is King Arthur's Quick and Easy Fudge Brownie Recipe, as well as Lemon Squares. And here's Smitten Kitchen's collection of a variety of bars.

Remember to send your photos to Geo at by Monday, May 11.

Happy baking!

P.S. Click here to see the mouthwatering creations from last week's Breakfast of Champions competition!
