Kathleen Harte Simone is the newly appointed Athletics Media Manager, responsible for the Athletics Department’s internal and external communications, including the Upper and Middle School’s 21 varsity and 65+ teams. Harte Simone draws from her experience in athletic communications and her work at an independent school to oversee the GFS Athletics vision. She will work on the department’s website content and management, social media, live streaming, video production, and email communications. Harte Simone will also communicate GFS’ mission and philosophy to prospective students and by telling stories through the lens of our inspiring student-athletes and coaches.
“I’m thrilled to be part of the GFS community, where students are challenged to be their best selves and celebrated for their unique talents,” shared Harte Simone. “It was evident from my first meeting that GFS is wholeheartedly committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to providing a safe environment where mutual respect lives, and life-long learning and relationships are embraced.”
Prior to GFS, Harte Simone was Founder and Managing Editor of Philafieldhockey.com, a popular sports website that promotes more than 130 Philadelphia-area high school and college teams, and executes numerous sports education and spirit-building events. Harte Simone also served as the Assistant Director of Athletics at The Baldwin School, where she oversaw sports information content for the school’s Upper and Middle School teams, and assisted with athletic special events, coaching staff, and athletic facilities. She also coached Varsity Field Hockey and Lacrosse. Prior to her time at Baldwin, she served as the editor of two magazines--one in the sports arena.
Harte Simone earned her B.A. in journalism from Temple University, where she was a four-year member of the field hockey and lacrosse teams, including the NCAA Division I National Championship Lacrosse Team.
Director of Athletics Katie Bergstrom Mark notes, “Kathleen is going to be a difference-maker for our program! Her varied experiences as a writer, administrator, coach and athlete give her a unique lens from which she can tell a vivid story about GFS’ positive team cultures, our standout scholar-athletes, and our creative and intentional coaches. She is committed to telling authentic stories and celebrating student-athletes as people first.”
“GFS is the first independent school in the Philadelphia area with a position that focuses on athletics communications and that speaks volumes,” added Harte Simone. “It’s a testament to the school’s commitment to supporting student-athletes of all abilities; to heightening the energy spurred from the Tigers’ amazing teams, athletes, and coaches; and to sharing GFS’ athletic news for the school community and beyond.”
