The Girls Varsity Basketball team played a heartfelt game last Friday night against Shipley School. It was a complete team effort for the Tigers as they defeated Shipley—GFS’ first win against the rival school since 2006. Desiree Norwood ’21 scored 17 points, while Clare Meyer ’22 filled the statistics sheet with six points, eleven rebounds, and four blocks. Sophomore Martina Kiewek ’22 scored eleven points, and achieved seven rebounds, three steals, and three assists. Cadence Kelly ’22, Caroline Putnam ’23, and Caroline Rickels ’22 were key contributors in Tigers’ well-deserved victory.
The Tigers faced Westtown School on Tuesday afternoon, trying to edge closer to league-playoff contention, but fell short with a 44–28 loss. This Friday, the girls will keep their Friends Schools League playoff hopes alive as they travel to George School to take on the Cougars at 4 p.m.
