Chamber Music
Chamber music is the essence of intimacy and responsibility in music making. Through the process of preparing individual parts that function as solos, to combining parts that create harmony and communication, there is great satisfaction in the creation of a chamber music piece.
Ensembles range from cello duets to piano quintets to ukulele ensembles, and encompass the full range of ages and levels in the Upper School.
Chamber ensembles rehearse one period a week, with repertoire that ranges from Renaissance to Contemporary. Since musicians must also partake in the Orchestra, students are already familiar with their fellow ensemble members and build on the work that is cultivated in the larger ensemble.
Chamber ensembles perform regularly for daytime assemblies, night concerts, the Chamber Ensemble Concert at the end of the year, and special events in the Philadelphia area.
