explore our CAMPUS

What's cool about our campus is that it's spread out over seven acres in Philadelphia's historic neighborhood of Germantown. The buildings are an eclectic mix of old and new, a unique look and feel more consistent with a college campus. With three gyms, three auditoriums, a student center, numerous open, green spaces and nine classroom buildings, it's a place worthy of adoration and exploration. The Meetinghouse, at the center of it all, provides a beautiful and spiritual focal point.

The Pillars of A

Quaker Education

At GFS, students and teachers gather in Meeting for Worship once each week. This is a time for shared, silent contemplation. Anyone who feels moved to speak may rise and do so. It is a simple formula, and can be a remarkably powerful experience. In these days of constant connectivity, the ability and opportunity to sit in silence have special value. Meeting for Worship is a cornerstone of the GFS culture that many come to cherish throughout their lives.

"Alone we can do little; together we can do so much."* We know there is strength in cooperation and wisdom to be found when many perspectives come together. We believe in the power of community.*
The words of Helen Keller.

keep it simple

In every way we can, we try to minimize the distractions that can draw our attention from the important things in life. This means not becoming overwhelmed by the busyness of daily routine. It means seeking balance. It means embracing simplicity.

care for all

This planet we inhabit, the talents we've been given, the community of which we are a part- all hold remarkable value. We must be responsible, imaginative and proactive in protecting these gifts and caring for the world and people around us. We must exercise good stewardship.

Early Childhood Program

We welcome you to the Early Childhood Program admissions process, and we appreciate your interest in GFS for your child. We are here to help you through the process and happy to answer any questions you may have.

We want every GFS student to be successful, so we seek applicants and families for whom our program and school philosophy will be a good match. Children applying to the Early Childhood Program participate in an admissions process that is designed to align with their cognitive and socioemotional development. We aim to get to know your family and your child individually, in a group, and from current teachers, in ways that maximize engagement for your child and minimize stress for your family. Our Admissions Committees take great care in reviewing all information submitted for each applicant.

The application process may begin as early as the September before a student enters GFS. We receive many more applications than we have available spaces, so it is important and to your benefit to apply and schedule appointments early.

Please note: Children must be at least 2 years, 7 months old by September 1, 2019, to enroll for the 2019-20 school year. Children who enroll in our Early Childhood Program are reassessed in PreK for GFS Kindergarten admission. Also, financial aid is not offered in the Early Childhood Program; financial aid at GFS begins the Kindergarten year.

Application

For the 2019-20 school year, families must submit the application by December 7, 2018, and all steps of the application process must be completed by January 7, 2019 to be considered for first-round review. Thereafter, applications are considered on a rolling basis as they become complete.

Please click the banner above to apply online. You will be asked to set up a username and password, which will allow you to complete, edit, and review your application before electronically submitting it to us. There is a $45 application fee.

Family Tour & Parent Interview

Please call 215-951-2345 to schedule a tour for either Main Campus or our Center City location. We ask both parents to attend when possible. Please indicate campus of interest when scheduling appointments.

    Born between September 1, 2014 and August 31, 2015

Playdate

The next step is to arrange a playdate for your child to spend part of a morning participating in classroom activities along with current students. Playdates typically take place in the morning, and should occur after the family tour and parent interview. Families must complete an online previsit form prior to the playdate.

For applicants to PreK, a brief readiness assessment, conducted by the Director of Early Childhood and Kindergarten Admissions, will be a part of the playdate.

Please call the Admissions Office at 215-951-2345 to schedule your playdate.
