Welcome to Walking Collage Germantown
What is Walking Collage Germantown?
In considering how to build meaningful creative and performing arts opportunities for our students in a safe way during the pandemic, and in a way that responds to the realities of this particular time and place, we are proud to welcome you to Walking Collage Germantown, a collaborative and community-based project with a wide range of artistic meditations on the history, culture, and place of Germantown.
How does it work?
Artists are invited to respond creatively to historically or culturally significant locations throughout the Germantown neighborhood. Each work of art, with a note from the artist, is captured digitally and housed below as part of the collage.
The audience (that’s you!) is invited to walk the neighborhood and visit these locations. Using a smartphone, and our curated map above, you can take in as many or as few works as you’d like, at your own pace, and in whatever order you prefer. The overall experience is as much about the walking as stopping to experience the art. It is an invitation to see and uniquely experience this neighborhood. We hope that you will look down at your phone, but also be inspired to look up and notice something new about the collage that is the neighborhood of Germantown.
