Boys Cross Country Wins 23rd FSL Championship in a Row

The Varsity Boys Cross Country team won their 23rd consecutive Friends Schools League title at Belmont Plateau on Thursday, extending a legacy that began in 2002. This is the team’s 29th total championship win, dating back to their first championship in 1985.

Mason Kresloff ’25 (pictured below) set the pace and was the individual boys varsity champion, finishing first with a time of 16:54.60. Liam Riley ’27 joined Kresloff in the top ten, at seventh place, followed by Declan Head ’27 in eleventh. The next three Tigers kept a pack mentality and finished within 8 seconds of each other: Dylan Rix ’25 (13th), Samuel Kelly ’26 (15th), and Finn Busser ’26 (16th). Lucas Daniel ’27 wrapped up the scoring, finishing 27th out of 56 runners.

The Tigers rose to the intensity of the occasion, five of the seven Varsity runners set course bests and Kelly ’26 set a personal best running 18:34.20.

The Varsity Girls Cross Country team finished second overall at the FSL Championship Meet, led by junior Zoe Lallas in fourth place, Charlotte Hong-Goranin ’27 in eighth, and Jane Keenan ’25 in tenth (pictured below). Both Lallas and Hong-Goranin set course bests. Eleventh and twelfth place finishes were earned by Ani Rubenstein ’28 and Carolina Kramer ’27, respectively. Eliza Dunsay ’28 and Jordan Abney ’26 rounded out the scoring for the Tigers in 15th and 23rd.

The JV Boys finished second overall, but put up strong results with a good race strategy, sweeping positions four through nine.
