Crew
First a club program, Crew became a varsity interscholastic program beginning in the fall of 2019.
The team practices and competes in the fall and spring with the primary competitive season being in the spring. Winter training is also available.
In the 2022 season, the Tigers secured their first-ever Stotesbury Regatta gold medal. Fourteen athletes also advanced to the USRowing Youth National Championships and six boats earned medals at the City Championship.
The GFS Rowing Program has seen a high level of success with athletes going on to row at Boston College, Brown, Harvard, Penn, Princeton, Stanford, Wesleyan, and Wisconsin. GFS crew alumnus James Wright ’18 (Stanford '22) represented the United States at the 2022 U23 World Championships.

Jessa is a Middle School science teacher who offers an inquiry-based life science curriculum through hands-on activities and labs. She encourages science media literacy and fluency in environmental politics. Jessa brings her expertise and experience in Marine Zoology into the classroom each day and has lead a Directed Independent Study on the topic. Jessa is also an advisor for many Middle School clubs and groups including the Gay and Straight Alliance, the Young Women Affinity Group, and the Photography Club. She also serves as a squash and track and field coach. Jessa has a BS from the University of Maryland and her Masters of Science from Cabrini College. She is a member of the National Association of Biology Teachers and the National Marine Educators Association.
