What's cool about our campus is that it's spread out over seven acres in Philadelphia's historic neighborhood of Germantown. The buildings are an eclectic mix of old and new, a unique look and feel more consistent with a college campus. With three gyms, three auditoriums, a student center, numerous open, green spaces and nine classroom buildings, it's a place worthy of adoration and exploration. The Meetinghouse, at the center of it all, provides a beautiful and spiritual focal point.

Tryout selections begin Monday 11/5.

Coaches will update you regarding the tryout process at the end of the first week.  The selection process will most likely go into the week of November 12. 

We will be using a combination of the Squash Smarts facility and the Germantown Cricket Club.  The coaches will communicate this to you.

Note: If students are not selected, they will be able to join the other Middle School winter sports that start on Monday, November 19. 

Location and Times

A weekly practice schedule will be shared by the coaches.  We will rotate practice sites between Squash Smarts and GCC.  Sometimes the girls and boys will go to separate sites, depending on the Upper School match/practice schedule.  Sometimes we will send a co-ed group of similar skill level to a specific site.  

Dismissal is at 2:30.  Athletes will return to Coulter Street (GFS Main Campus) at approximately 4:20 (they should change at the Squash facility).

   Germantown Cricket Club (only)

Tuesdays & Thursdays
   Germantown Cricket Club and Squash Smarts
   Coaches will communicate by Sunday night which student-athletes will be at which location.


Germantown Cricket Club (GCC)
Practice until 3:45 p.m.
Shuttle departs Coulter Street at 2:30 p.m.
Shuttle departs GCC at 3:45 p.m.
Shuttle returns to GFS (Coulter Street) approximately 4:00 p.m.
Students will return to campus in time to catch private busses.

Students should return to GFS via the shuttle if they cannot be picked up by 3:45 at GCC.  We cannot have GFS students unsupervised at GCC.  If students are to stay, parents should e-mail permission to coaches.

Squash Smarts
Practice until 4:00 p.m.
Shuttle departs Coulter Street at 2:30 p.m.
Shuttle departs Squash Smarts at 4:00 p.m.
Shuttle returns to GFS (Coulter Street) at approximately 4:20.

Students will return to campus in time to catch 4:30 private busses.

Parents must be at Squash Smarts by 3:50 if you intend to pick up at Squash Smarts.  We cannot leave any student at Squash Smarts unsupervised and we must get the other students back to campus on time.


The match schedule will be posted online. 

Squash is exceptionally difficult to schedule because GFS has no Home courts, there is potential for changes in the schedule.

Every time a game is cancelled or postponed, we create a Tiger Alert message that appears on the Athletics page of the website. But there's a way to get these alerts without checking the website—you can subscribe to Tiger Alerts and receive them by text or email. Look for the small bell and RSS feed icons at the following location (marked with a red box) on the Athletics main page

US SQUASH NATIONALS are at Yale, the weekend of January 25-27. 

Only players who have guaranteed matches will travel (traditionally, #1-5).

MASA (Mid-Atlantic Squash Association):  Week of February 4-9.

The Middle School Squash end date will be at the conclusion of MASA competition.  This date is TBD.


  • Wear whites for all practices.  (*This will not be enforced during tryouts.)
  • Coaches will distribute white GFS Squash shirts.
  • Uniforms will be provided by the Athletic Department.
