Stanford Honors for James Wright '18 and GFS Teacher Aaron Preetam

James Wright '18 was recently honored at the Stanford School of Engineering for being in the top 5% of students, and was named as a recipient of the Frederick Emmons Terman Engineering Scholastic Award for distinguished academic performance at Stanford. As part of the celebration, award recipients nominate the secondary teacher, who was most influential in guiding them during their formative years, to join the lunch celebrating Terman Scholars. James nominated GFS teacher Aaron Preetam, and on April 20, Stanford flew Aaron to California to join the festivities.

In his speech, James said, "Aaron taught me the value of pursuing excellence, no matter the setting...[He] has helped me grow in every aspect of my life and in ways that would not have been possible without him.” James had Aaron as a history teacher and also was coached by him when he rowed crew at GFS.
