Summer Camps

Our Day Camp, Athletic Camps, and Specialty Camps are for students throughout the Delaware Valley with a few exceptions:

• Campers must be 3 years old by June 1st (and fully potty trained) in order to register for our Day Camp.

• Children entering Preschool, Pre-K, or Kindergarten must be incoming GFS students in order to register for the Day Camp. 

• Campers registering for Summer Strings Orchestra Camp must have 2-3 years of prior instruction in a string instrument. Upon registering, we will also connect you to the camp director for a short audition.

Camps Are for Rising Grades

All camps are listed by the grade your child will be entering in Fall 2024.

 

Cost

Our Day Camp is $420 for full, 5-day weeks, $336 for 4-day holiday weeks.

Athletic Camps are $400 for full 5-day weeks.

Specialty Camps are between $365-$400 per week.

 

Deposit

A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the cost of each camp is due at the time of registration. Cancellations can be made within 48 hours of registration for a full refund. To switch from one session to another, please email camps@germantownfriends.org. On or after Sunday, May 19 at 11:59 p.m., no refunds will be given. All changes, including switching sessions, must be made before this date.

Balances will be due two weeks prior to the start of your child’s camp week. Payments can be made in 1 or 2 installments. 

No camper with a balance due will be permitted to attend camp.

 

Discounts

Campers who enroll for all 6-weeks of our Day Camp from June 10 - July 19 will receive a 5% discount, which will be provided as a refund after camp registrations are final.

Campers who register for all 4 weeks of Community Basketball & Enrichment Camp will receive a $15 discount, which will be applied automatically at check-out.

Early Bird discounts run until Sunday, March 17 at 11:59 p.m. Sign up by March 17 and receive up to $30 off per week on certain camps.

*The 5% Discount on Day Camp and Early Bird Discounts cannot be used on top of the Faculty & Staff discount.*

 

Registration Deadlines

Registration for our Day Camp will close at 11:59 p.m. on June 3rd.

Registration for all Athletic Camps will close at 11:59 p.m. one week before the start of camp.

Gear Up for Fall and Community Basketball & Enrichment do not have a registration deadline. However, please arrive 15 minutes early on the first day of camp to allow time for on-site registration.

 

Non-Tuition Financial Aid

GFS offers Non-Tuition Financial Aid to current or incoming GFS families attending camp. If you would like more information on how to apply, please email camps@germantownfriends.org. Applications are due by May 1st, 2024.

Need-based scholarships are also available for any camper registering for Community Basketball & Enrichment Camp. If you would like more information on how to apply, please email camps@germantownfriends.org.

Locations

Summertime at Germantown Friends School takes place in three primary locations:

• Main Campus (31 W. Coulter Street), which includes three theaters, two gymnasiums, numerous art and music studios, computer labs, a LEED-certified Science Center, and both gardens and wooded areas for outdoor education and exploration.

• GFS Athletic Fields (2807 Midvale Avenue and 2940 West School House Lane), which include three fields and two baseball diamonds.
• GFS Center City location (Curtis Center at 601 Walnut Street)
• Germantown cricket Club (411 Manheim Street) is where certain camps go swimming.

Transportation

GFS will offer a daily shuttle service from the Curtis Center to GFS’s Main Campus for the first three weeks of camp (June 10-June 28). The shuttle is for families whose children are registered for camps happening at the 31 W. Coulter Street location during those three weeks and are entering preschool - Grade 2. The shuttle will require a fee of $25/day.

 

Eating

Campers should bring their own non-perishable packed lunch and snacks. Campers will eat outside whenever weather allows. During inclement weather, campers will eat inside.

GFS will be closed on Wednesday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth and Thursday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. There will be no camps offered on these days

Each member of the Summertime at GFS Camps team is a skilled and passionate professional who has extensive experience planning and managing summer programming. Each team member’s goal is to ensure that all camp participants have a safe, healthy, and unforgettably fun summer experience as they grow as individuals and community members.
