LOWER SCHOOL (K-5)
We welcome you to the Lower School admissions process, and we appreciate your interest in GFS for your child.
Important: 2023-24 Kindergarten Applications
Due to an unusually large 2022-23 Pre-K class, we are short on Kindergarten spots for next year, and therefore cannot take any more Kindergarten applications for the 2023-2024 school year. We thank you for your interest and hope you might consider GFS for Grade 1 for 2024-25, where we do build our enrollment slightly.
Meet members of our community and hear about the unique educational experiences at GFS by exploring our Admissions event recordings. For questions, please contact us at admissions@

STEP 2
Initiate Your Application
Provide some basic information, tell us a bit about your interest in GFS.
Once you are in the Admissions Portal, you will see a set of required forms at the top of the application checklist. For grades 1-5 applications, please fill out the following forms by December 30, 2022 to be eligible for first round review for the 2023-24 School Year:
- Demographic Information — to be completed by a parent or guardian
- Parent Questionnaire — to be completed by a parent or guardian
- $45 Application Fee — If this is a hardship please give us a call.
Once these items are completed, you will be able to schedule your Parent Interview.
STEP 3
Schedule Your Parent Interview
Parent interviews are a chance for us to get to know your family!
We will learn about your child, and answer any questions you have about GFS. They typically last about an hour and are conducted via Zoom. If you aren’t familiar with video chat, don’t worry — we’re here to help!
Once you have completed the Demographic Info, Parent Questionnaire and submitted the $45 application fee, we will reach out via email to schedule your virtual parent interview.
For families with multiple applicants, only one Parent Interview is required. If possible, we ask that all parents be present at the same video chat.
STEP 4
Campus Visit
For applicants to grades K-5, a one-on-one skills assessment will take place during the visit as an extension of your child's half-day in-class experience.
STEP 5
Confidential Teacher Recommendation
We ask that you please choose the teacher from either last year or this year that knows your child the best. The Teacher Recommendation form and requests should be sent directly from the Veracross Admissions Portal to the teacher(s) you choose. Please request your teacher recommendation no earlier than November 1, 2022.
STEP 6
Submit Transcript and School Records
The Transcript Release Form, available in the Veracross Admissions Portal, should be completed by the parent/guardian and returned to the applicant's current school. Please request all official transcripts available to date.
A Note on Transcripts and Academic Records
While we require official transcripts as part of our application checklist, we will accept parent provided unofficial transcript copies to expedite file completion. However, an official transcript must be on file in order for any admitted students to enroll.
