What's cool about our campus is that it's spread out over seven acres in Philadelphia's historic neighborhood of Germantown. The buildings are an eclectic mix of old and new, a unique look and feel more consistent with a college campus. With three gyms, three auditoriums, a student center, numerous open, green spaces and nine classroom buildings, it's a place worthy of adoration and exploration. The Meetinghouse, at the center of it all, provides a beautiful and spiritual focal point.

The Open Door


The Open Door is a unique community gathering place, located just off the Front Hall in the Main Building. 

Conceived by a committee of parents, faculty and friends, and funded by GFS alumni, this hybrid space is a place for conversation over coffee and snacks, studying between classes, collaboration with fellow students, and exploration between students and faculty.

The Open Door is supported by local businesses including High Point Cafe (owned by GFS alumna Meg Hagele) and Weaver’s Way Co-op of Mt. Airy.

The Open Door features:

  • A full espresso bar
  • Pastries, snacks, and prepared food items
  • GFS clothing and gear
  • Alumni-authored books
  • School supplies
  • Toys

Information About the Open Door Card

What is the Open Door Card?

The Open Door Card is distinctly separate from your MyPaymentPlus account. It is a gift card on which you can load money and use it exclusively in the Open Door. You can load one card per student or per family; please be sure to specify who is authorized to use the card.

How do I initially load my student's Open Door Card?

In person, via cash, check or credit card. Otherwise, please email to be assigned a card. Once you receive your unique card, BID, and CVV numbers, register your card and load money via the StoreCard Manager website:

This website will also allow you to check your balance, view your transaction history and link your Open Door Card to a credit card to ensure that you always have funds available.

Payments will show up as “PURCHASE Germantown F Philadelphia PA CARD ####” on your credit card statement.

Please note: The balance on your Open Door Card will carry over each academic year, but it is non-refundable.
