MIDDLE SCHOOL (6-8)
We welcome you to the Middle School admissions process, and we appreciate your interest in GFS for your child.
At this time, a spot in our waitpool is likely the best outcome of an application for the 2022-23 school year. However, a waitpool decision could convert to an admit decision if any enrolled or admitted families' plans change after March 1, 2022, or throughout the spring.
Meet members of our community and hear about the unique educational experiences at GFS by exploring our Admissions event recordings. For questions, please contact us at admissions@

STEP 2
Initiate Your Application
Provide some basic information, tell us a bit about your interest in GFS.
Once you are in the Admissions Portal, you will see a set of required forms at the top of the application checklist. Please fill out the following forms by December 10, 2021 to be eligible for first round review for the 2022-23 School Year:
- Demographic Information — to be completed by a parent or guardian
- Parent Questionnaire — to be completed by a parent or guardian
- Student Questionnaire — to be completed by applicants applying to grades 6 through 12
- $45 Application Fee — If this is a hardship please give us a call.
Once these items are completed, you will be able to schedule your Parent Interview.
STEP 3
Schedule Your Parent and Student Interview
Parent interviews are a chance for us to get to know your family!
We will learn about your child, and answer any questions you have about GFS. They typically last about an hour and are conducted via Zoom. If you aren’t familiar with video chat, don’t worry — we’re here to help!
Once you have completed the Demographic Info, Parent Questionnaire and submitted the $45 application fee, we will reach out via email to schedule your virtual parent interview.
For families with multiple applicants, only one Parent Interview is required. If possible, we ask that all parents be present at the same video chat.
STEP 4
Confidential Teacher Recommendations
We understand the unique demand the current pandemic is placing on teachers during this school year and will work with families to provide flexible options for this requirement. We ask that you please choose the teacher from either last year or this year that knows your child the best.
The Teacher Recommendation forms and requests should be sent directly from the Veracross Admissions Portal to the teacher(s) you choose and must be received by GFS by January 7, 2022.
STEP 5
Admissions Testing
Families may submit either ISEE or SSAT exam scores from within the last year. We will accept results of ISEE or SSAT exams administered both in-person or online for 2022-23 applicants.
For information on scheduling a remote exam, please visit SSAT at Home or ISEE at Home. Test scores must be received by January 7, 2022.
Please have your child's test scores sent to us directly using the code 3397 for SSAT or 393325 for ISEE when prompted on the test provider website.
ISEE school code for GFS : 393325
SSAT school code for GFS: 3397
STEP 6
Submit Transcript and School Records
The Transcript Release Form, available in the Veracross Admissions Portal, should be completed by the parent/guardian and returned to the applicant's current school. The student's official academic records must include Fall 2021 grades. Please have your child’s school send the records directly to GFS before January 7, 2022. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are seeing delays in receipt of official academic records, so it’s important that Transcript Request Forms be sent to your child’s school in a timely manner once Fall 2021 grades are available.
A Note on Transcripts and Academic Records
While we require official transcripts as part of our application checklist, we will accept parent provided unofficial transcript copies to expedite file completion. However, an official transcript must be on file in order for any admitted students to enroll.
STEP 7
Graded Writing Sample
Middle School applicants are required to submit a written assignment that has been completed for school and graded by a teacher. Please submit the writing sample via the Veracross Admissions Portal before January 7, 2022.
